After the death of her husband, Arzina Begum was left with the responsibility of supporting her family. To make ends meet, she started a small grocery shop and sold traditional bhapa pitha (steamed cakes). However, due to a lack of necessary supplies, she was struggling to sustain her family and could only rely on selling pitha.
Recognizing her struggle, CnS Bangla Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Bangladesh, decided to step in and provide the support she needed. The foundation assisted Arzina by supplying the essential items required to run her grocery store effectively. With the additional supplies, her shop became fully operational, allowing Arzina to become self-sufficient and earn a steady income.
Arzina’s shop is located in the Monter Danga area of Purba Balagram Union, in the Jaladhaka Upazila of Nilphamari District. This initiative was part of CnS Bangla Foundation’s Self-Reliant Project (SDP), which aims to empower individuals by providing them with the tools they need to support themselves and their families.
